Light-rail trains between Seattle, SeaTac to run more often

SEATTLE (AP) — Rush hour on light-rail trains between Westlake and the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport should be less crowded as they will begin running more frequently.

The Seattle Times reports that Sound Transit announced Wednesday that starting Sept. 28, trains will run every six minutes apart during peak-time commutes, compared to 7 ½ minutes apart currently.

Officials say the increase is to prepare for the surge of students, staff and other riders that are expected when the University of Washington and Capitol Hill stations open in the first quarter of 2016.

During non-peak hours the trains will still run every 10 minutes. Peak times are 6 to 8:30 a.m., and 3 to 6:30 p.m.
