Olympia man uses hornet spray to capture accused trespasser

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — An Olympia man kept who he says was a trespasser in his backyard at bay with a can of wasp and hornet killer.

The Olympian reports that police responded to a trespassing call early Monday after a couple awoke to their dog barking outside. The husband saw the suspect walking off his neighbor's porch.

Police say the suspect started walking in the man's direction, and as he got closer the resident sprayed the suspect with the hornet killer and kept the other man on the ground by holding the spray can at the ready above him.

The suspect appeared in Thurston County Superior Court of a bail hearing Tuesday. He faces one count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance for a bag of methamphetamine found during the arrest.
