School district advises parents of possible child luring incident near Brier Terrace Middle School

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. -- The Edmonds School District sent a letter to parents about a possible child luring incident that took place when four boys were walking home from Brier Terrace Middle School last Friday.

"Mountlake Terrace Police took a report from a concerned parent about 8:53 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2015 regarding a possible luring event that  had occurred earlier in the day as her 12-year-old son was walking home from school with friends," the letter said.

"The mother reported that her son and four friends were walking home from Brier Terrace Middle School between 2:30 and 2:45 p.m.  The group was in the 22400 block of 39th Avenue West when they encountered a white male subject wearing a hat and standing outside of a mid-sized light blue truck (unknown make or model). The male subject asked them if anyone wanted a ride and he told them that he had room for one person only. No one accepted the ride and the children continued to walk home. The male subject got into his truck and immediately drove off.

"School officials have been advised," the letter said. "The Police Department would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have witnessed the event or has further information. Please contact the City of Mountlake Terrace Police Department at (425) 670-8260."
