14-year-old girl, 17-year-old brother shot in South Everett



EVERETT, Wash. -- A 14-year-old girl and her 17-year-old brother were shot multiple times near Discovery Elementary School in South Everett Thursday night, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.

The two were rushed to Seattle's Harborview Medical Center, where the boy was listed in critical condition and the girl was in satisfactory condition.

The sheriff's office said the shooting was reported at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday near the 11700 block of Meridian Avenue South. It reportedly occurred in the parking  lot of Discovery Elementary.

Sheriff's detectives are searching for evidence between Discovery Elementary School and Voyager Middle School, the sheriff's office said.

No students or employees of the schools were involved, the office said.

The main suspect was described as a black man in his 20s who was wearing a red sweatshirt. The sheriff's office said they are also looking for two white females and a black female.

K-9 units and law enforcement from several agencies have joined in the search, the sheriff's office said.

No details were immediately released about what led up to the shooting.
