Transit authority reaches settlement with family of Vancouver boy killed by bus

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — The Clark County public transportation authority has agreed to a $2 million settlement with the family of an 11-year-old boy who died after being struck by a C-Tran bus in 2012.

The Columbian reports that the parents of Ben Fulwiler filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the transit system in 2014. The settlement was finalized in early August.

Ben was riding a bicycle in Vancouver on April 12, 2012 when a bus turned onto the same street. The two collided and Ben was run over by the vehicle's rear wheels. He died later at a hospital.

A C-Tran spokesman says the agency does not believe they are responsible for the incident, but that they look forward to bringing Fulwiler's parents closure.
