Report: Seattle Seahawks DE Bennett fined for preseason hit

SEATTLE -- Michael Bennett, who has never been a huge fan of how quarterbacks are treated in the NFL, now has a little more to add to his arsenal of grievances.

Bennett was fined $17,363 for his hit against Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith in the Seahawks 14-13 loss last Friday, Tom Pelissero of USA Today reports.

Bennett hit Smith three times in the preseason loss, Sports 247 reports, with one hit resulting in a 15-yard penalty. In an interview with 710 ESPN Seattle, Bennett called the hit "routine."

"I hit Alex Smith with a routine hit, and I get flagged," he said.

During the interview, Bennett also showed a dislike for the attitude of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford, who allegedly grew upset when he was tackled at the knees during a preseason game.

Bennett played in 16 games with the Hawks in 2014, securing seven sacks.
