Child dies after being found in hot Las Vegas truck

Las Vegas, NV (KVVU) — A 4-year-old boy died at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas after being found inside a hot vehicle Thursday afternoon.

Lt. Will Hudler, of Las Vegas Metro police, said the child was found by family members near a home in the 4600 block of Welter Avenue, near East Sahara Avenue and South Nellis Boulevard. The call came in at 6:25 p.m.

According to police, a family member responsible for the child left him inside a Ford F-250 pickup truck. It was not known how long the child was in the vehicle.

Police said the family member was not either of the parents.

The child was rushed to the hospital originally in critical condition, according to Hudler. The child later died while in treatment.

Detectives with Metro’s Abuse and Neglect Section were assigned to investigate the incident. Foul play was not suspected, according to police.
