Dog with rare talent found key evidence in Jared Fogle porn case; now he's headed to Seattle

INDIANAPOLIS -- Prosecutors say a dog with a rare ability to sniff out electronics found a key piece of evidence in the Jared Fogle child porn case.

The black Labrador named "Bear" was trained by a professional dog training firm, Tactical Detection K9 , based in Louisville, Ky.

Bear is said to be only three dogs in the U.S. trained to discover can detect SD cards, thumb drives, iPads and more.

On 7 July, one of the dogs it trained was on hand during an FBI raid of the home of former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle in Hancock County, Indiana.

Federal investigators conducted a search of the former Subway spokesman's Indiana home in July for electronics. They seized many electronic items.

But according to RTV6 in Indianapolis, prosecutors said Bear discovered a hidden flash drive at the home that proved to be key to the investigation. The results led to Fogle's arrest.

Fogle has since agreed to plead guilty in federal court to possessing child pornography and traveling to pay for sex with minors.

RTV6 said Bear has worked five investigations for the Indiana Crimes Against Children Task Force, including the one at Fogle's Zionsville, Ind., home.

And now, according to media reports, Bear is heading to Seattle, where he will begin a new job with the Seattle Police Department.
