Strong summer storm moves through Puget Sound ahead of Hawks game

KITSAP COUNTY -- A strong band of rain and lightning rolled through the Puget Sound area Friday afternoon, with lightning sparking at least one fire.

Lightning struck a tree in the 100 block of Lippert Drive West in Port Orchard, South Kitsap Fire and Rescue officials said, and caught a nearby apartment on fire.

The National Weather Service says there were 650 lightning strikes across Western Washington on Friday.

An urban flood advisory was in effect across the Puget Sound region for several hours but expired at 4:15 p.m.

The storm caused delays for some flights at Sea-Tac Airport. According to the Seattle Times, more than 300 lightning strikes were reported across the Pacific Northwest Friday.

The Seahawks first preseason game is still scheduled to begin at  7 p.m. against the Denver Broncos at CenturyLink Field. Game coverage begins at 6 p.m. on Q13 FOX.
