Sheriff: 11-year-old boy steals car, leads chase in SeaTac

SEATAC, Wash. (AP) — An 11-year-old boy was taken into custody Wednesday after stealing a car and leading deputies on a chase in SeaTac, the King County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies say the boy told them that he stole the red Subaru Impreza  after finding a hidden key.

They say they saw him driving extremely recklessly at 3:45 p.m., going through stop signs while trying to see over the steering wheel.

During the pursuit, deputies used a pit maneuver to stop the car and some damage occurred to a deputy's patrol car.

The boy was taken into custody six minutes after the chase began.

The sheriff's office says no one was injured.

The boy was ultimately turned over to his mother and the car was returned to its owner, the sheriff's office said.
