DES MOINES, Washington — A pet wallaby is safely back with his owner after a daring escape and a police apprehension Wednesday morning.

Des Moines police posted a photo of the marsupial on its Facebook page.

“This bad boy escaped his backyard this morning and added some excitement to our day,” wrote the department spokesperson in the post.   “It’s not every day that wallaby apprehension falls into the list of events while on patrol.”

Once police were able to track down the escapee he was ‘safely reunited with his owner.’
