CHELAN COUNTY — A security camera captured footage of a woman walking a dock late at night, losing her balance, falling into the water and drowning, sheriff’s deputies say.

Chelan County sheriff’s deputies received a call around 8:40 a.m. Tuesday reporting that a body was found in Lake Chelan floating near the Manson Bay Marina. The body, spotted between boats near the dock, was immediately recognized as 50-year-old Catherine L. Maynard of Manson, Washington.

Deputies reviewed security footage from the area, and allegedly observed Maynard walking down the dock around 10:30 p.m. Monday night. She appeared to be alone when she lost her balance and fell into the water.

According to deputies, Maynard boated with a friend earlier Monday and fell asleep in the boat after the trip. She drowned shortly after she left the boat for the evening.

Detectives are investigating the incident.
