LEAVENWORTH, Wash. (AP) — The Washington State Patrol is investigating the death of a 67-year-old bicyclist who was found on U.S. Highway 2, about 22 miles west of Leavenworth, Washington.

Trooper Darren Wright says motorists driving east on the highway found the cyclist on the ground dead at about 1 p.m. Monday. He was wearing a helmet.

He’s been identified as Edward H. Folkwein of Columbia Falls, Montana.

Wright says they’re investigating it as a hit-and-run in case he was struck by a car. Wright says there’s no evidence he was hit, but the coroner will decide what actually caused his death.

Folkwein’s family has been notified. It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol were a factor.

I like whoever is running this investigation. Dead cyclist beside the road in the middle of nowhere, suspect a hit-and-run.
