UPDATE: This new product just might reduce road rage

ORANGE, CA -- You may remember my personal campaign to bring the "Thank You Wave" back into prominence in our daily driving habits. Did someone let you merge in front of them? Wave 'thanks'! Did you cut someone off because the lane was ending and, well, you're in a hurry and who cares? Please. Just wave. It will lower the anger of the person you cut off, I promise.

But a new company out of California is doing one better: they've launched MotorMood! The founders say the hope is for this product to make the roadways a less hostile place. Here's how it works: you stick the MotorMood smiley face in your rear window, and place the buttoned remote on your drivers side visor. If someone lets you merge, you simply press the button, and it lights up the smiley face in your window as a way to say 'thanks'!

Initially, the company launched a Kickstarter campaign to get this project off the ground, and quickly raised over $117,000 in just over 30 days! But things have changed. The founders aren't able to release any details just yet, but say an opportunity has come up that allows the product to reach people more quickly. Because of this, they cancelled the Kickstarter and cancelled the charges for everyone who had pledged support. Instead, you can now pre-order these MotorMoods directly on their website- starting at $19.99. In addition to offering several colors (blue, green, and pink), they are now also offering a 'winky' face!

Click HERE to purchase and learn more. And from one potentially ragey driver to another (we all sit in that gosh awful traffic together) let's aim to be kinder to each other during our commutes! Whether that's a simple wave, or the welcome site of one of these fun, lighted smilies, it just might lower our stress and make our day!

if you live in WA state you will never reduce road rage as the minute you hit that border, everyone holds up traffic by driving the speed limit in the fast lane and never moving over. Coupled by the fact that the roads are completely outdated, have never adapted to the increase in demand, and have inept politicians/administrators/government who have spent way too much on themselves, road rage can only get worse, no matter how many smiley buttons you get.

Well, on 405 at least we’re getting additional lanes. They’re toll lanes, but it should help reduce congestion a bit. But you are correct, there way too many idiots who do not move with the flow of traffic in the left lane. Hell, I have seen fully-loaded semi-trucks driving in the left lane for miles, which is completely illegal. I was sooo hoping a cop would be on the side of the road to catch them. Never happened though.
