Jermaine Kearse aims to create new opportunities for kids growing up in military families

SEATTLE -- Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse spent the day enhancing the lives of children from military families.

Kearse and his foundation called '15 to 1' took 130 children from Joint Base Lewis-McChord to JA World in Auburn.

With the help of Junior Achievement of Washington, they learned business, economic and life skills.

Kearse grew up on the base and understands the challenges many of these children face.

"I had a camp at JBLM not too long ago, and I had a chance to talk to one of the kids and he told me he had moved eight or nine times in the last year," Kearse told Q13 FOX News. "That can be difficult personally, socially, in school work -- constantly changing schools can be real hard."

The 15 to 1: Jermaine Kearse Foundation is looking to reach 15,000 kids this year through assemblies and other outreach programs.

The ultimate goal is to give perspective and provide new opportunities for children growing up in military families.
