Report: Seahawks' Thomas may not be ready for start of season

SEATTLE -- The Seahawks may have to go without the best safety in the league when the regular season starts on Sept. 13, ESPN reports.

According to ESPN's Ed Werner, safety Earl Thomas won't be ready for training camp following an off-season shoulder surgery. The first week of the regular season remains in question, too.

Thomas, who is currently in rehab, told ESPN he will find out more about his status on July 30.

"I'm unsure about everything at this point," Thomas told ESPN. "I will find out more when I get back to Seattle... when I take my physical."

Coach Pete Carroll has previously reported he expected Thomas to return by the start of the season, the Seattle Times reports.

Thomas finished the 2014 season with 97 total tackles and one interception.
