IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — Nearly 200 people gathered Monday night to light candles and pray for an Idaho Falls toddler who’s been missing nearly four days.

Deorr Kunz Jr. disappeared while camping with his family in Leadore Friday. After extensive search and rescue operations, there’s been no sign of the two-year-old.

Family and friends organized a prayer vigil at Freeman Park, reported. During the service, Deorr’s parents said they have faith he’s still alive.

“We will find him one way or another,” said a tearful Deorr Kunz Sr., Deorr’s father. “We will find him no matter what it takes.”

A pastor prayed with the family and asked God to comfort the family.

Deonn’s mother, Jessica Mitchell, asked those in attendance to share pictures of Deorr on social media and on posters.

“He could be very, very close,” Mitchell said. “He could be very far away. We don’t know but we are covering all bases at this point.”

Deorr’s parents said while they were camping they left for a few minutes to explore. They assumed Deorr was with his grandfather, but his grandpa thought his parents were taking care of the child.

“There’s not much to be said other than one small mistake as a parent – leaving him with an adult that turns his head for a minute,” Kunz said. “Please cherish and love each other because it could be changed in just a split second.”

“He’s mommy’s boy and daddy’s little mini-me,” Kunz Sr. said. “I will find him if it’s the last thing I do.”

A possible lead

The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office has ruled out a lead they received Monday night concerning a missing Idaho Falls toddler.

According to Sgt. Jeff Edwards, a woman at the Ammon Walmart called the Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office around 3:45 p.m. She told detectives she spotted a boy she believed could have been Deorr Kunz Jr. with a man. The two-year-old disappeared while camping with his family in Leadore, Idaho on Friday.

Edwards said detectives have reviewed Walmart surveillance video and investigated the tip. Tuesday afternoon they determined the lead was unfounded and the child was not Deorr.

Meanwhile Deorr’s family is asking the public to share a poster featuring photos of their son in hopes he will be found soon.

The Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office says extensive search and rescue operations have been suspended but investigators are still looking for the boy.

In an interview with, Deorr’s parents, Deorr Kunz Sr. and Jessica Mitchell, said they believe their son is still alive.

It’s not so much about watching it’s about COMMUNICATION. If you step out tell grandma and grandpa “hey the baby is staying with you” ALWAYS reassure with communication. He left the baby with grandma and grandpa and the baby walked off (grandma and grandpa thought they were taking the kid) …so one said anything and that’s when it all went down hill…COMMUNICATION IS KEY. There is nothing wrong with going for a walk with your spouse and leaving your kid to stay for a bit with grandma and grandpa…….the problem was that there was NO communication in this,

I truly hope little Deorr is found safe & healthy.
It would help a lot if the description of him was accurate…. “blonde bushy hair”???
This little guy obviously has wispy thin blonde hair…… certainly not bushy.
