'Mysterious sea creature' washes ashore, baffles marine experts

The remains of a strange-looking animal that washed ashore in the Far East has wildlife experts stumped.

The animal is reportedly twice the length of a human, has a furry tail, and a long nose like a bird.

According to the Siberian Times, the carcass was discovered on a beach on Sakhalin Island, Russia.

Photos posted on social media are creating a buzz because the animal remains unidentified.

The Times reports some claim the animal is a Ganges River dolphin from India because of the long body and narrow beak-like nose. But experts say the animal is twice the size of this dolphin species and they don't have fur on their tails.

An expert with the Sakhalin Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography says it's most likely a rare species of dolphin.

But the mystery still remains.
