Suspects briefly barricaded in building after man shot in leg

SEATTLE -- Possible suspects in a shooting Friday near the intersection of 143rd Street and 32nd Avenue barricaded themselves in a building and refused to come out for some time, Seattle police said.

SPD tweeted about the shooting around 10 a.m.

145th Street NE was closed while police investigated the shooting. A short time later, police tweeted the suspect was spotted and barricaded himself in a building.

Police said the man was shot in the leg and was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A short time later, police learned that a group of men and women had been involved in a dispute in a nearby apartment building. When the group emerged from the building, that's when the shooting occurred.

SPD negotiators, SWAT, and other law enforcement agencies worked to get the group to surrender. Four men and one women were escorted away from the building after some time.

The shooting Friday afternoon was one of four shooting in the past 24 hours in King County.
