SEATTLE — Seahawks Quarterback Russell Wilson is opening up about his personal life and talking about the physical side of his relationship with singer Ciara.

Or, more specifically, absence of certain physical relationships.

Wilson joined The Rock Church’s Miles McPherson Sunday evening in San Diego to talk about his relationship with God, his activities in the church, his family, his recent divorce and his budding relationship with pop star Ciara.

Wilson went into detail about his decision to abstain from pre-marital sex with Ciara, saying that the couple came to the decision early on in their relationship while she was on tour.

“She was on tour, she was traveling. I was looking at her in the mirror. She was in the dressing room getting ready to go before she went on stage, and she was sitting there, and God spoke to me and said, ‘I need you to lead her.’ And I was like, ‘Really?’ And he was like, ‘No, I want you to lead her.’ So I told her, ‘What would you do if we took all of that extra stuff off the table and just did it Jesus’ way?’ And she was relieved.'”

Wilson is known for his religious beliefs and adherence to Christianity. He said through abstinence, he and Ciara can come closer to God. But though he and Ciara agreed to abstain, he said, it’s not always easy.

“I ain’t going to lie to you all now,” he said, to the laughter of the crowd. “I need you all to pray for us. I know you’ve seen her on the screen. If there’s a 10, she’s a 15.”

The two have known each other for about six months, he said. Wilson called Ciara the most beautiful, kind person in the world.

“She’s everything you could ever want.”

So, was she religious before Wilson? Or is she converting? And where does their beliefs in what God wants begin and end? Does this mean she will try and change her promiscuous type image? And did they abstain from the get go or only now after God spoke to him? And why was she relieved he wanted abstain? Did God tell him no sex or can they do other things? This is why religion is just such nonsense to me. Everyone interprets the word of God how they see fit. So this whole God thing from Wilson weirds me out. A little extreme. And when most people hear a voice its considered a sign of being crazy.

    • Just Sayin'

Promiscuous type image? I’ve never heard nor read about her being portrayed as the promiscuous type. She’s no angel, im, sure, but no Mylie Cyrus. I think this is a beautiful decision they have made regardless if they had relations before this or not. it makes for a stronger relationship with God and a stronger relationship with each other, especially because both of them have careers that keep them out of the home for most part of the year. This builds trust and what is a relationship if there is no trust. I’m extremely happy for them, they both just beam when they speak about each other. Bless them!

How about you leave your judgment at the door and worry about your own salvation. Everyone has different views of God. So, don’t force your stuff on others…

    • Hazel

Wilson is not “religious.” Religion is doing something repetitively and can mean nothing. He’s a Christian, which is a belief and a lifestyle. Way to be judgemental and snarky about something you don’t know much about toward someone you’ve never met.

      • The Decider

Because I’m not a dummy and lemming and have some questions? Nowhere did I say he was wrong. The weirdos would come in so defensively. You see how Jus Saying responded? That was an intelligent explanation and response to my many questions, take note so you don’t sound like a moron in the future. I say what I want, do what I want, and question who I want. If God doesn’t like it he can smite me. I’ll be snarky, and you are no better with your snarky response to me. How hypocritical of you. You don’t know me. Don’t pretend you never have judged anyone you never met. That would make you a liar on top of a hypocrit. So suck it.

      • Robert Ray

I hate to break it to you but Christianity is a religion.
the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
synonyms: faith, belief, worship, creed; More
a particular system of faith and worship.
        plural noun: religions
a pursuit or interest to which someone ascribes supreme importance.

Words have more than one meaning. Christianity fits perfectly into this very well accepted definition of religion.

LOL!!! Just because Ciara’s not having sex with you doesn’t mean she’s not HUMPING like Bunny Rabbit!!! I love it when the so called “Christians” expose their ignorance for everybody to see in the name of “JESUS”!!! Keep telling yourself she’s not having sex and when she comes up pregnant she’ll be like Bristol Palin having the next “Immaculate Conception”!!! Will you name it “JESUS” after your “Lord & Savior” or will she name it “JESUS” after the “POOL BOY”???

  • Mrs. Sanders

That is AWESOME! My husband and I did that as well. We have now been married 12 years. There is such blessings in doing things God’s way. It is definitely not easy but well worth it.

  • Jesus was a grifter

He is insane…. that’s all there is to it….. So god is speaking to you ???? #waco #pleasestfu

  • PhD Harlow

Dear Mr.Wilson it’s possible you are being messed with the military has technology called brain to skull artificial telepathy it’s totally secret and totally unethical makes people go nuts it’s like schizophrenic auditory hallucinations be very cautious in evaluating voices that inexplicably appear on your head

    • SomeoneYouCouldLearnFrom....

Intolerant bigotry? OR the desperate hope that the uneducated masses who have barely ceased being monkeys can finally grow enough brain cells to stop believing in their invisible friends……

But no. You’d rather have me believe that the n-Thousandth reinterpretation of a book of collected short stories and letters written by many different people, which is in many ways self contradictory, has no basis in evidence, and which has been cobbled together by the CHURCH is somehow divine. Look at poverty around the world. Then look at who is the richest landowner in the world. Oh what a surprise, its A CHURCH. I may not have a problem with the church if it wasn’t so hypocritical – churches are full of gold and relics of immense value – the church could end poverty today if it wanted. Oh but wait, if there’s no poverty who will feed on the ‘better life after’ lies of the church?

You get one shot at life. I’m not saying be a bad person, and I’m not saying be immoral. Just have the balls to make your own mind up about what is bad and what is immoral. Its not that hard.

Oh, and as an FYI, I’m normally happy to stay silent about my views on the idiocy of those who believe in gods. Today you offended me by calling me an intolerant bigot. So, this being Fox, and me not being American, let me express my position by paraphrasing one of the greats for you.

I may not agree with what idiotic things you believe, but I will defend to my death your right to have those idiotic beliefs. I’ll reserve the right to think you a moron, quietly or otherwise.

      • jojo

wow. all that fuss because a guy is following what he believes to be right from a God He serves. i mean, its not like he said God told him to slice the girls throat, He told him to not have sex with her until marriage, which is someone i think we all want for our daughters. you guys are throwing oit all these beliefs and what u dont believe to be true…over something POSITIVE. Jeez does it always call for that? just be happy for them

  • Mark Hurley

Just goes to show: No amount of money, glory, or fame can cure crazy. I know guys of his caliber are surrounded by Yes Men, but he needs a friend to tell him he’s ridiculous.

  • tootietuttle

liberals will call him crazy because God told him to get off his butt and get a job.

Seattle has really turned their backs on God. I wouldn’t be surprised he took his talent and his abilities to a place more accepting of God and where he wouldn’t be criticized for having prayer meetings on the field after the game. Good for Russell

  • Adam Lopez

If a quarterbacks got a super bowl in mind about this one, it for sure will go down in history, its a winning season, happy score to you russell, don’t need no running back for this!! God bless!!

  • jojo

i am LOL at these comments. anywhere God is mentioned you can bet theres someone waiting to troll and insult us Christians and call us dumb for believing in a being we cant see, as if they dont believe air exists. its called faith lol
there could be a news story about a man who jumped into a burning building and saved 15 orphans and a puppy because he said he heard the voice of God telling him to do it- and theres gna be someone out there like “God isnt real stop judging and forcing your imaginary God on me!” lol like dude thats all u got out of that? lol

  • Eric

    This is crap!
And for the obviously religious interviewer to imply that someone who works at Starbucks etc is somehow lesser of a person in god’s eyes is incredibly insulting. I am certain if he was to be called on it, he would just brush it off as a poor selection of words. However he is a professional orator interviewing a public figure… He should have known better.
Also the both should realize this was just a display of two grown men pandering to each other’s egos… Embarrassing.

  • Kimberley

Jesus says in Matthew 24:9 you will be handed over persecution! Thank you Russell for being a Godly man and example too young boys, men, girls and women!

Russell Wilson was being interviewed by a pastor folks. He was not trying to make a big declaration like Bristol Palin. He was being honest and transparent. I wish I (almost 70 now) had been as strong in not having premarital sex as he is being. He admits it is difficult but believe me, once you go down that path of having sex outside of marriage, it affects your entire life (I was at the beginning of the 60’s sexual revolution) and he knows it. I am so proud of him and so happy there is a real role model.
