Deputies look to identify person spotted near start of devastating Wenatchee fire

CHELAN COUNTY -- Sheriff's deputies hope the public can help identify a person seen near the start of a Wenatchee fire that burned more than 3,000 acres and 30 structures.

The Chelan County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in identifying the person behind the wheel of a white Toyota pickup driving west bound at or near the start of the Sleepy Hollow Fire.

The Sleepy Hollow Fire caused thousands of evacuations early last week, and burned more than 3,000 acres of grassland and neighborhoods.

The cause of the fire is still not known. The fire has since been largely contained.

About 245 firefighters worked against the fire.

Detectives hope the occupants of the Toyota pickup may have some knowledge as to the start of the fire. Anyone who may know the driver is encouraged to call 509-667-6845.
