Just in time for holiday weekend, popular Seattle waterfront reopens

SEATTLE -- Seawall construction 273 days ago forced businesses along Seattle's popular waterfront to close their doors.

But businesses reopened Wednesday.

The $300 million construction project isn't done yet -- another six months of construction is expected. You can still see the seawall exposed in some places.

Visitors don't seem to mind.

But businesses fear they will be forced to close again in the fall.

Merchants are also concerned about the lack of parking, which could hurt business.

Business owners are expected to sit down with city leaders in about three weeks to see how things are going and to discuss possible closures in the future.
