21-year-old Kenmore man dies in Snohomish River

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) — A 21-year-old Kenmore man died Monday while swimming in the Snohomish River, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.

Lt. Rob Palmer says the young man was recovered late Monday afternoon from a part of the river that's about 20 feet deep. He had been submerged for more than a half-hour and medics were unable to revive him.

The county medical examiner's office will determine the cause and manner of death and identify the man.

Palmer cautions that river and lake temperatures are still cold despite current hot weather and rivers have unpredictable currents and sudden changes in depth.
