Got a call about missed jury duty? It's likely a scam

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — Residents in a northwest Washington county are being warned about bogus missed jury duty calls.

The Bellingham Herald reports scammers have told people in Whatcom County and across the state in recent months that they missed jury duty and need to make a payment or provide a social security number.

Whatcom County Superior Court notified residents to be wary of providing their personal information.

The court does not solicit payments and personal information over the phone or through email from people who have missed jury duty.

Anyone who's been contacted by the scammers should call police.
