Rescue workers use chainsaw to free pregnant woman trapped in river

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Rescue workers used a chainsaw to free a pregnant woman who became trapped under a log while tubing about 20 miles southeast of Tacoma.

The News Tribune reports Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer says rescue workers were performing CPR as they took the woman to the hospital late Sunday afternoon.

Troyer says two men tried to rescue the woman, who was in a group of three tubing Carbon River near Ortig.

Her condition is unknown. No further information was made available as of 9 p.m. Sunday.
