Searchers find woman who got stranded in woods near Entiat

ENTIAT, Wash. (AP) — Searchers have located a Wenatchee woman who had been stranded in Chelan County wilderness for more than 36 hours after her car blew a tire.

The Chelan County sheriff's office says 50-year-old Margaret Johnson was found Saturday morning down 150 feet down an embankment near a remote forest road about 20 miles west of Entiat.

Sgt. Kent Sisson says she appeared to be dehydrated and somewhat delusional. She had a sprained ankle but was otherwise in fair shape. She was taken to a local hospital.

He says it's not clear why she told dispatchers she was on a paved road in the Chelan area when she called 911 on Thursday night. Searchers combed that area that night but couldn't find her. They also searched other locations after trying to track her cellphone signals.

A U.S. Forest Service officer eventually located her car Friday night in the Entiat area, and she was found after an extensive search Saturday.
