Body found after house fire put out in Bothell

BOTHELL - Bothell Police are investigating a house fire where a body was later discovered.

Police said after the fire was put out, the body of a person was found inside the home.

Kirkland fire department crews responded to the fire in the 14500 block of 111th Avenue Northeast, just after 10 p.m.

The cause of the fire and the identity of the deceased has not been determined. However, neighbors said it was a woman who lived in the home.

Neighbors told Q13 FOX that one of the home's owners ran into the house and asked them to call 911. Good Samaritans used a garden hose on the fire before crews could arrive.

"All of a sudden it was huge flames shooting out the back window of the house," said Casey Stewart, one of the neighbors who tried to fight the flames back with a hose.

A man who lived in the home on fire told police he came home to find his house engulfed in flames. He ran to Stewart's house and asked him to call 911.

"We asked him if anyone was still in there, and  he said she’s still in there, but it’s too hot," said Stewart. "With our garden hoses, we couldn’t do too much at all."

Police interviewed the man who lives in the home and released him.

Detectives continue to investigate the cause of the fire and how the person inside died.

Neighbors say the couple who live in the home kept to themselves, but the woman suffered from medical issues, and an ambulance was often seen outside their home.
