Man charged for 3rd time with murder in grandmother's death

SEATTLE (AP) — In an unusual case, King County prosecutors say they have charged a young man for the third time with murder in his grandmother's death.

The Seattle Times reports that as a juvenile, Quentin Frazier was twice found not competent to stand trial for the March 20, 2006, fatal stabbing of 45-year-old Louise Frazier. The woman was killed when the boy was 13.

Now 22, Frazier was charged for the third time on Monday and booked into jail on $1 million bail.

County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg says he's concerned about Frazier's possible danger to the community. The prosecutor says the only way to determine if his office has criminal jurisdiction "is to test his competency again."

Satterberg notes Frazier has made court appearances in two recent misdemeanor cases in which competency wasn't raised as an issue. In one case, he's accused of assaulting the program director at his group home.

Arraignment is scheduled June 15.
