Tacoma City Council votes to buy Old City Hall for $4 million

TACOMA (AP) — The Tacoma City Council voted Tuesday to buy the 122-year-old Old City Hall for $4 million, plus closing costs.

The News Tribune reports the council vote to purchase the historic building on Commerce Street was 8-0.

An appraiser hired by the city valued the building in March at $1.6 million.

City officials say it's part of Tacoma's history so they were willing to pay more.
