Deputies: While looking for burglar, K9 finds robber

SHORELINE -- A sheriff's deputy K9 tasked with tracking a burglar helped subdue a robber early Tuesday afternoon. Now, detectives are trying to find out if the robbery and the burglary -- which occurred in nearby streets -- were in anyway connected.

At 10:23 a.m., King County sheriff's deputies received calls of an burglary at a home home in the 100 block of NW 155 Street in Shoreline. Units responded, but could not locate the suspect, who was described as a thin white male in his 40s to 60s, wearing tan pants and a top. Though the homeowner was home at the time, she did not confront the burglar, and armed herself with a shotgun, deputies said.

Deputies called to the scene immediately put K9 officers into a tracking action. While searching for the burglar, a robbery was reported near the intersection of NE 147th Street and 1st Avenue NE.

Already in the area, deputies and K9 officers ran to the new scene.

The robbery suspect was located with heat sensors and arrested. He was treated for a bite wound after allegedly refusing to surrender.

Deputies said they did not know if the robbery and burglary were connected. Detectives are investigating the incidents.
