According to Federal Way police, a man in a black car was at a "very high rate of speed" westbound after crossing into the eastbound lanes of S. 320th Street around 11:20 a.m. That's when police say he collided with two cars that exiting I-5.

Investigators say the driver then collided with two more vehicles waiting at the intersection heading eastbound.

A total of three drivers were taken to Harborview Medical Center, including the suspect, with life-threatening injuries. One of the injured drivers had an infant and a toddler in the car at the time, and the children were treated at the scene. The third injured driver was the only person in that vehicle.

Witnesses told officers that the suspect was driving erratically at the time of the incident.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the collision to call police at 253-835-2121.

Officials expected S. 320th Street and the northbound I-5 ramps at the intersection to remain closed until at least 5:30 p.m.
