Dog found shot to death tied to tree on trail; investigation under way

SEABECK, Wash. — A pit bull mix was found Monday tied to a tree and shot to death on a trail near Seabeck, the Kitsap Sun reported.

Hikers found the male dog at about 3 p.m. It had been shot between the eyes, Kitsap Humane Society spokeswoman Karen Matthee told the Sun.

The dog is estimated to be between 5 and 8 years old, tan-colored with cropped ears. It was outfitted with a blue harness and pink leash. The dog had no tags and had no implanted microchip, the Sun said.

Two hikers found the dog on a trail, about 50 feet from Stavis Bay Road near Cadmar Lane, the Sun said.
