SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The Marion County Sheriff's Office says a swimmer pulled from Detroit Lake this weekend has died.

Sgt. Don Parise identified the drowning victim Sunday as Cody Ellingsworth, an 18-year-old who was set to graduate from Salem's Sprague High School in a couple weeks.

Ellingsworth was swimming with friends Saturday afternoon when he went under. His friends were able to find him and pull him out of the water.

The sheriff's office says CPR was started immediately and Ellingsworth was flown to a hospital.
