Lake Tapps man pleads guilty to child porn offenses

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a 32-year-old man previously convicted of child pornography offenses in Florida moved to Lake Tapps, Washington, and volunteered to baby-sit for families in his neighborhood so he could gain access to young boys and produce more child porn.

The U.S. attorney's office says Caleb Dean Eccles pleaded guilty Friday in federal court in Tacoma to production, possession and distribution of child pornography. He faces a mandatory minimum 25 years in prison at sentencing Aug. 14.

In 2002, when he was convicted of 63 child pornography offenses in Florida, the man was sentenced to 10 years of probation.

Prosecutors say he altered his name slightly in Washington to avoid detection of his sex offender status.

Eccles caught the attention of law enforcement officers investigating a website used to trade child porn.
