MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) — Firefighters on Thursday night battled a blaze that had damaged at least three businesses in a downtown strip mall on the corner of 2nd and Myrtle, a city official said.

No one was injured.

The fire started in a building housing the Taste of India restaurant and then spread to two other businesses in the same building. The fire became intense and firefighters had to withdraw because of structural concerns.

The fire reportedly started about 6:30 p.m. Fire officials think it started in the building's attic.

The Mount Vernon officials said three businesses were damaged by the fire -- the Taste of India, Super Pho and Teriyaki and All City Bail Bonds. At one point, part of the building's roof collapsed.

Crews from six fire departments fought the blaze.

The cause was not immediately known.
