(CNN) — Gunfire erupted Sunday among rival biker gangs in Waco, Texas, leaving at least nine people dead, according to police.

Authorities had anticipated trouble and pre-positioned officers.

“There were at least three rival gang groups here this morning for whatever reason. As they were here, we had officers on scene. We expected issues,” said Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton, a police spokesman. He later said there were at least five gangs.

The fight broke out at Twin Peaks restaurant and spilled into the parking lot. It quickly escalated from hands and feet, as weapons, to gunfire, Swanton said.

“In my nearly 35 years of law enforcement experience,” he said, “this is the most violent and gruesome scene that I have dealt with.”

Bikers shot at each other and at officers, who returned fire.

Swanton expressed anger at Twin Peaks, which he claims had been less than helpful in dealing with gangs in the past. He declined to identify the specific groups involved in Sunday’s shooting.

“Are we frustrated? Sure. Because we feel like there may have been more that could have been done by a business to prevent this,” he said.

Corporate management at Twin Peaks released a statement saying it was reviewing the circumstances of the shooting. The Waco restaurant is franchised.

“We are thankful no employees, guests or police were injured in this senseless violence outside the restaurant, and our sympathies are with the families of those killed,” the statement said.

To escape the fight, some restaurant customers and employees took cover in the freezer, according to CNN affiliate KWTX. The station reported that more than 100 weapons were recovered, and Waco police said officers were continuing to arrest people arriving with weapons.

Swanton told reporters that eight people were dead on the scene and another was pronounced dead at an area hospital. A total of 18 people were taken to the hospital. It was not immediately clear whether that figure included the person who died. All those injured or dead are believed to be bikers.

No officers were hurt, Swanton said, praising their response.

“Their action has saved lives in keeping this from spilling into a very busy Sunday morning,” the spokesman said. “Thank goodness the officers were here, and took the action that they needed to take to save numerous lives.”

If there was ever an example of brain dead criminal enterprises and single cell morons its biker gangs. A Federal judge in California ruled on one such gang that if they displayed their logo law enforcement had a right to detain and search them and check for warrants and they also crumbled under focused Federal investigations. All but shut them down. This needs to be done for all of them. There are only a few thousand of these jerks across the country.

Those good oh white folks again. Between Bike gangs, Serial Killers, Militias and child molesters, heck why do people complain about the blacks??

Another one of those Tea Party rallies where they ‘ cling ‘ to their Bibles and guns ?! Let me guess…. Somehow someway this is all Obamas fault!

Dow over 17,000, record corporate profits, 5% growth, best year for jobs since 1999, consumer confidence up, deficit down 60% in 2014, gas prices low, health insurance cheaper than ever ($85/month), car insurance cheaper than ever ($25/month from InsurancePanda), the 1% starting to be taxed more… all while republicans bleated about Benghazi took pointless votes to repeal the ACA, and did nothing for anybody except the top one percent.

It turns out that Obama is indeed “the adult in the room,” and yes, the Chess Master. HRC will keep it going, any republican will screw it up. Simple as that.

But, But, But….I thought only black people rioted and murdered. 9 people killed this doesn’t make sense. (sarcasm) How could this happen with no black people there????

This us vs them mentality gets us no where. We the people need to stand together for the good of our country. I don’t care about white, black, mexican or asian. There is good people and people that are lost and doesn’t mean they are bad people. The people we need to worry about is those who are always trying to take more of our freedom away for there gains. Those are the real problem. They help create the division of people’s.

Because Obama isn’t responsible for inciting and all but encouraging a race war with his inflammatory statements. You seem to be one of those delusional people who like to drag your buddy Barry into topics that aren’t even remotely about that moron. Just shut up and save your Hope And Change flag-waving for a relevant article.

Give me a freaking break… Obama hasn’t done anything whatsoever to help black people since he’s been in office. He’s more interested in Gay Rights and killing people in drone strikes.

And we think we’re better than the third world idiots…well we are better most of the time. I’d guess these biker gangs can’t handle the beer, hot sauce and young ladies in skimpy outfits. The restaurant is similar to Hooters and a few others. The grubby bikers won’t be welcome anymore.

“Are we frustrated? Sure. Because we feel like there may have been more that could have been done by a business to prevent this,” he said.

Oh no, no, no. Businesses cannot discriminate remember? If bakeries cannot discriminate against gay people then certainly restaurants cannot discriminate against bikers. They might get sued. Leave it to the Clinton News Network to miss the irony here.

Not the right comparison. Biker gangs are criminal organizations and particular businesses that are “friendly” to them and uncooperative with the public good is a different matter than discussing what is going on with any of the “protected” classes these days.

      • hellomurica

Irrelevant. It’s discrimination based on appearance, and if it’s against the law to discriminate against one group, then it’s against the law to discriminate against all groups.
