Oregon woman dies in car crash just hours after beach wedding proposal

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) — A Grants Pass woman was killed in a car crash hours after accepting her boyfriend's wedding proposal at Whaleshead Beach.

The Grants Pass Daily Courier reports that 28-year-old Melissa Hudson died Sunday and her new fiance Jake Zeliff was seriously injured when the 2002 Jeep they were driving veered into the left hand turn lane and collided head-on with an oncoming Lexus on the Redwood Highway in Gasquet, California.

Hudson was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City, Califonia, and Zeliff remains in stable but serious condition following surgery for a brain injury at Oregon Health Science University in Portland.

Brandon Randow, who was driving the Lexus, sustained moderate injuries and was treated at Sutter Coast Hospital.
