Generally not a great idea to meet the cops with a gun in your hand. Guess the question is whether he was pointing it at the officer or not. Without video of the encounter, it’s all speculation….

RIP Steve! You were a very nice person and you will be missed. You were always a very respectful and caring friend. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Why do I suspect there’s more to this story than what we’re being told here. Unless the guy wanted to suicide by cop, I can’t imagine why anyone would walk up to officers with a gun in hand.

They were creeping around his house with flashlights. They didn’t identify themselves until after shooting him. My other friend was 3 feet behind him when he was shot.

See, now that is more along the lines of what I’d expect. Sane, rationale man trying to defend his home from unknowns lurking about, and is shot by stupid cops who can’t bother to ID themselves while trespassing.

No video but I did get audio. Unfortunately time stamp is off on my recorder by 35 min. I did hear 14 rounds fired in under just 5 seconds. Kind of over kill. Spray and Prey? Not sure how I would have reacted yet maybe they should carry 6 shooters.
