SEATTLE (AP) — More than 100 people gathered Friday evening at a Seattle beach in a candlelight vigil for two 19-year-old Seattle women missing in Nepal since that country's devastating April 25 earthquake.

The Seattle Times reports (http://is.gd/swwpfn ) participants held candles labeled with the names of Bailey Meola and Sydney Schumacher and the word "hope."

Meola's godfather, Chris Olson, says the U.S. Embassy in Nepal told the families there is still hope the two will be found alive. He says relatives "continue to hold on to that hope."

Sydney's mother, Diane Schumacher, thanked the community for its support.

The young women were trekking in Nepal's Langtang Valley when the quake hit.

They had been traveling after graduating from Seattle's Garfield High School in 2014.

The families have raised more than $47,000 on crowdfunding site Indiegogo to help them search for the women and have used some of that money to send family members to Nepal to help in the search.

The families have started a joint fund to help find Bailey and Sydney. Click on the link below:
