Authorities seek car chase suspect after spike strips backfire

BREMERTON, Wash. (AP) -- Authorities are looking for the suspect in a car chase that ended when bike strips stopped their own patrol cars.

The Kitsap Sun reports a Mason County Sheriff's deputy advised radio dispatch that he was laying down spikes Wednesday night as a black Mercedes-Benz approached followed by a Kitsap deputy and a Washington State Patrol trooper.

All three cars ran over the spikes, and the suspect's vehicle was able to drive away on rims while the two pursuing vehicles were disabled.

The Mercedes was found abandoned with evidence of methamphetamine and drug dealing inside. Police suspect a 30-year-old Bremerton man was driving the vehicle. He has warrants for possessing drugs with intent to distribute and misleading or lying to authorities.
