Jury deliberates on McEnroe death penalty

SEATTLE (AP) — A jury has started deliberations to decide whether a man convicted of killing six members of a family in Carnation, Washington, should face the death penalty.

Jurors started deliberating the fate of Joseph McEnroe on Thursday. Prosecutors say he is a coldblooded killer, while his lawyers said he was the victim of a manipulative woman who coerced him into murdering her family. His former girlfriend, Michele Anderson, faces a trial in the fall for the slayings which happened on Christmas Eve 2007.

McEnroe was convicted in March.

The same jury that convicted him of aggravated murder will decide if his crimes warrant life in prison without the possibility of parole or the death penalty.
