Bainbridge Island teacher arrested for alleged sexual misconduct with juvenile

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. -- A 25-year-old female teacher at Bainbridge High School was arrested Thursday for alleged sexual misconduct with a juvenile male victim, police said.

The Bainbridge Police Department said Jessica M. Fuchs was booked into the Kitsap County Jail on charges of sexual misconduct with a minor, communication with a minor for immoral purposes, and tampering with a witness.

Bail was set at $100,000, police said.

"At this time the police do not have any indication that there are additional victims involved," a Bainbridge Police Department news release said.

The department was first contacted on Feb. 25 by a member of the Bainbridge Island School District regarding allegations of inappropriate conduct between a female teacher and a juvenile male, the release said.

Bainbridge police conducted "an extensive investigation" and, as a result, submitted a probable cause statement to the Kitsap County Prosecutor's Office and the court for review, the release said.

The prosecutor's office believed there was probable cause for several crimes and the court issued an arrest warrant for the teacher, the release said.

Fuchs was arrested Thursday.
