PARKER, Colo. -- A prom picture is stirring up quite a controversy outside of Denver, KDVR reports.

According to KDVR, students at Chaparral High School hosted prom in Denver over the weekend. While the dance was just fine, it'a a picture of students posing with guns and the Confederate flag that is grabbing the nation's attention.

The teens have done nothing illegal, KDVR reports. Still, many are questioning the logic of posing with such emotionally charged regalia.

“When he got out there he was surprised that guns were brought out and the Confederate flag was brought out,” said a mother of one of the students in the picture, who spoke to FOX31 Denver exclusively on the condition of anonymity. “There were other parents there fully supporting it and taking pictures.”

At least one student's mom doesn't condone the behavior, KDVR reports, and says her son has made a mistake.

The flag upsets people but for some it has a meaning of Southern identification rather than anything racial. Intent is the paramount factor in something such as this, not official hysteria in the media and academia.

they have to protect themselves from Obama’s Army. After Obama’s Army seizes Texas, it will work it’s way North

This is the end days the GOP has been talking about. Thanks to Chuck Norris, Senator Ted Cruz and Governor Abbot for exposing this dangerous liberal takeover of the US Army.

no, it’s freedom of speech. If you want to tell the world you are a racist hill billy who believes the US Army is your enemy, go right ahead. It makes it easier for the rest of us when we know who isn’t playing with a full deck.

I think the picture is nothing but a way to show how rebelious teenagers are. Some kids smoke cigs, others drink booze, and others use drugs….just dumb kids doing what comes natural being dumb.

I’m sure there are plenty of nuts in Washington calling on Inslee to activate the national guard to stop Obama’s army from confiscating their guns.

the difference of course is that our Governor is not an idiot. Abbott represents the paranoia and distrust of the GOP.

That’s a nice little fantasy you’ve set up for yourself Petey. Does it keep you warm at night?

I’ve seen nothing that says the National Guard is being activated, just that they “stand ready”, as I assume they always do.

But whatever nonsense you want to come up with is what I’m sure you’ll believe. You haven’t let the facts or logic of any discussion you’ve been in yet dissuade you from doing otherwise.

That’s their first and second amendment rights. We’re a diverse nation, and there are people who hold opinions that run counter to what many believe. If you dislike it, tough.

they have a right to hold whatever flag they want in America. If they had been holding a rainbow flag, liberals would be praising them even though there is a lot more liberal hate in that flag than anyone bothers to mention.
