KENT, Wash. — Police have released new details in the drive-by shooting death of 1-year-old Malijah Grant, including pictures of a vehicle fleeing the crime scene.

Grant died after being shot on April 19 as she rode in a car with her parents. Another car had pulled up alongside them near the intersection of Lake Fenwick Road and Reith Road in Kentand two people inside opened fire. Grant was in the back seat of the car.

In court papers. Kent detectives say the girl’s father had been involved with the Deuce 8 street gang, which has an ongoing feud with a gang called Low Profile following the shooting of John Gerald Williams in Seattle on March 19.

The girl’s parents were not injured in the shooting. The father denies being involved in a gang.

On Monday, police released images of the suspect vehicle caught on nearby surveillance. It is believed the vehicle is a black 4-door sedan with dark, tinted windows. The vehicle's make and model have not yet been positively identified.

Police are also asking for the public's help in locating a gray, 4-door 2007 Pontiac Grand Am with Washington License Plate 678-ZRL. This vehicle is considered a vehicle of interest by Kent police, and is noted as having a burned out rear passenger side break light. The vehicle was stolen recently in Renton.  The Pontiac was allegedly seen following the suspect vehicle at the time of the actual shooting.

These gang members think they are so tough and cool and a part of something. And look what happens. Their choices get their little innocent children killed. This is disgusting. Also, if your going to be in a gang. Own it. Isn’t denying your gang bad in itself? All they are is a bunch or trouble making rebels without a cause. I say arrest all known gang members who have been in trouble with the law and make an example of them. Death by firing squad. You want to be a gang member, this is what happens.

Are you kidding me? Just round people up and shoot them? Sure, because the police never get it wrong?
This was a terrible thing that happened to an innocent child and you want to compound it like THAT?
What the hell is wrong with you?
We don’t DO that in this country. If you want to live somewhere in which you can participate in that kind of bullshit, move to Saudi Arabia or North Korea or anywhere but here. You are no better.

Why do we allow police to tarnish this father’s name? “…Kent detectives say the girl’s father had been involved with the Deuce 8 street gang.” A department with a long history of racism has a detective that thinks a black man must be in a gang, what a surprise. Being black, citizens demand no proof of the slander, nor even that the case get solved. The detective has already made statements that he deserved this, (that’s exactly what he means in slandering the victim). If it had been a white man we would demand better. Racist much?
