Two dead, one injured in Bonney Lake murder-suicide

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. – Two people are dead and a third is in the hospital after a murder-suicide outside of Bonney Lake.

Medics and deputies were called out to the home, on the 19900 block of Rhododendron Drive East, around 10:15 p.m. Friday night. They arrived to find a woman dead inside the home and a second woman injured. The injured woman was taken to a Tacoma hospital with serious injuries.

Soon after, a standoff began with a man who deputies believed was connected with the shootings. That standoff went on until around midnight, when SWAT members entered the home where the man was holed up. The man was found, dead of a gunshot wound.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Ed Troyer confirmed that the shootings were being considered a homicide-suicide. Detectives believe that the man shot his wife and her friend before the standoff, then shot himself during the standoff.

The names of those involved in the incident have not been released.
