Marysville toddler killed after hit by car in driveway

MARYSVILLE, Wash. – A 2-year-old girl was killed Saturday morning after being hit by a car in her driveway, and police are calling it a tragic accident.

Marysville Police spokesperson Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux said that officers were called to the north Marysville home around 8:30 a.m. They arrived to find the toddler critically injured, and CPR was immediately started. Medics then arrived, and continued their attempts to save the child. But she died while being transported to an airlift.

Lamoureux said that the toddler had run out of her home into the driveway and went behind a car that was being backed in. The car was driven by her father, and he could not stop in time before the child was hit.

Investigators were at the home for much of the morning, and family members were helping them out. Lamoureux said no one is seen as at fault, as it is seen as an accident.

“This appears to be a very tragic accident,” Lamoureux said, “however we must bring in our specialists to investigate to make certain that is the case.”

No one else was injured in the accident.
