'Real Housewives' Kim Richards arrested for alleged public drunkenness, kicking police officer

LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- A longtime actress who appears as herself in the reality show “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” was arrested early Thursday after alleged drunken behavior at the Beverly Hills Hotel, police said.

Kim Richards, 50, allegedly kicked a police officer after being taken to the station for booking, the Beverly Hills Police Department announced in a news release.

Officers were called to the landmark hotel about 1:30 a.m. in response to a possible fight. Security at the hotel said an intoxicated woman — later identified as Richards — was “causing a disturbance at a hotel restaurant,” the release stated.

Security asked Richards to leave and, while she was being escorted off the property, she asked to use a restroom and then refused to leave the facility, according to police. Officers entered the restroom and took her into custody just after 2 a.m.

“Richards was displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication, including slurred speech and belligerent insolent behavior, cursing at the officers and passively resisted arrest,” the news release said.

The officer she allegedly kicked in the leg was not injured, police said.

Richards worked as a child actor and appeared in multiple television shows before her stint in “Real Housewives” began in 2010, according to her IMDb profile.

She was in rehab in 2011 for substance abuse issues, but has recently said that her sobriety is the most important thing to her, People Magazine reported.

Richards was released about 10:30 a.m. after posting $20,000 bail, according to county inmate records.

She was issued a citation for public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer, the Police Department stated.

Richards was due to appear at Airport Courthouse in May.
