1 dead, 1 injured in large house fire on Capitol Hill



SEATTLE -- Firefighters battled a large house fire Thursday morning on Capitol Hill that killed one person and injured at least one other.

The house fire started sometime after 7 a.m. in the 400 block of 16th Avenue East on Capitol Hill, fire officials said.



Crews had the fire under control by 9:20 a.m. However, one person was found dead at the scene and another was transported to Harborview Medical center in stable condition.



According to Seattle Fire Spokesperson Kyle More, the dead person was found on the first floor of the home. The injured person was being treated for smoke inhalation. There is no damage to nearby homes or structures.
