Voters in central Washington city may be asked about a pot business ban
SUNNYSIDE, Wash. (AP) — Voters in the central Washington city of Sunnyside may be asked what they want to do about marijuana businesses.
The Yakima Herald-Republic reports that several City Council members have suggested putting an advisory vote about banning marijuana business on the Aug. 4 primary election ballot.
Sunnyside has had a moratorium on such businesses since the 2012 passage of Initiative 502, which legalized recreational marijuana in Washington state.
Sunnyside has one officially proposed marijuana business, from a married couple who want to open a retail shop, but they lack a city business permit.
