Badly burned Washington bear 'Cinder' to be released back into wild here

A bear cub dubbed "Cinder" because his paws were badly burned in Washington state's largest wildfire last summer is in the final stages of his recovery process and is expected to be released in Eastern Washington in June.

The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife said the cub was found hiding on a homeowner's property with badly burned paws from the Carlton Complex Fire.  Cinder's mom was nowhere to be found and may have died in the fire that covered more than 250,000 acres.

Cinder was treated for his burns at a wildlife center in Tahoe and is now in Idaho to complete his recovery process. If all goes well, he was be released into the wild in Eastern Washington in June.
